Chris Marker's 1962 masterpiece, composed entirely of black and white still photographs...



...inspired both a full-length Terry Gilliam re-working and a very strange theme bar in Tokyo, the walls of which are apparently plastered with images from the film.

Watching it again it's as sad and elegant as ever, while the fact that it was presumably made very economically by a reclusive man with a clear interest in the physical possibility of time travel only makes me love it more.
